Welcome to Woodinville, Washington, a lovely community of 5.6 square miles 20 miles northeast of Seattle in King County. This community is known for its wineries and wine tasting rooms. This part of the Sammamish Valley bordered by rolling hills is located east of Bothell along SR 522 with easy access to I-405, the major eastside freeway.

 

Shopping and Dining

 

Molbak's Garden + Home is a Woodinville landmark on 175th St., the main road through downtown. The popular nursery features gifts and a Garden Cafe.

Woodinville real estate is the site of 109 wine tasting rooms, eight micro breweries and 26 restaurants. This is Woodinville Wine Country featuring Washington appellation wines.

Chateau Ste. Michelle was the first Washington winery established along the Sammamish River, quickly followed by the Columbia winery. Although the grapes are grown in Washington's Columbia Valley east of the Cascades, the wine is actually made in these colorful buildings. Chateau Ste. Michele has a summer evening concert series on the lawn by the winery.

Other boutique wineries are located throughout the Sammamish Valley with several tasting rooms by the historic Hollywood School House intersection on the Woodinville-Redmond Road. The Bistro at the Hollywood School House is one of the popular restaurants in the area.

The Gobble downtown on 175th St is the place for comfort food and thePlaza Santa Fe Grill offers a tequila and wine bar. The Barking Frog Restaurant at Willows Lodge is another favorite. Sample local hand-crafted beers at Collective on Tap and enjoy their pub food.

The Woodinville Farmer's Market offers fresh produce and flowers from local farms in the area. It is open on Saturdays from May to September at DeYoung Park across from Molbak's.

Woodinville Lavender is located along the Woodinville-Redmond Road by the spectacular farm fields blooming throughout the spring and summer.

Woodinville Town Center features chain stores, movie theaters and more restaurants.

 

Parks and Recreation

 

Woodinville has four public parks including the De Young Park and Wilmont Gateway Park, the town's first park with a children's playground. This park meets with the Sammamish River Trail that connects the city to neighboring Bothell to the west. Woodin Creek Park also connects to the River Trail.

The 10.9-mile trail winds along the river from Bothell to Marymoor Park in neighboring Redmond, south of Woodinville. People bike and hike along the trail. Kayaking is popular on the river during the summer. A special equestrian trail parallels the walking path.

Rotary Community Park has a skateboard area along with picnic shelters.

The Adventura Arial Adventure Park is a private park in Woodinville offering a variety of activities including jumping, scaling, zipping and swinging along monkey bars. The park is open to individuals and groups for scheduled events.

Local golf includes the two public Willows Run courses by the river in neighboring Redmond and the private Bear Creek County Club in Woodinville.

Hot air balloon rides at sunset and sunrise over the Sammamish Valley are offered by Over the Rainbow.

 

Living

 

Woodinville has a population of approximately 12,000 in the city limits and outlaying unincorporated areas. Woodinville real estate is in zip code is 98072. This takes in all of the valley and most of the hillside area.

This is a suburban community. People living in Woodinville can work in Seattle or eastside communities such as Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland and Canyon Park. They can also commute to the Everett and Lynnwood areas.

Home prices start in the mid-$500,000 range and go up from there. Homes are generally 2,200 square feet and larger with three to five bedrooms. Homes are usually situated on large, treed lots. Many homes have views of the Cascades.

Townhouse condominiums are located in the downtown area and along the river. Two bedroom/bath units start in the $200,000 range.

Woodinville real estate includes several neighborhoods and unincorporated areas such as Bear Creek and Cottage Lake. Most of these communities have homeowner associations.

 

Schools, Health, and Transportation

 

Woodinville real estate is in the Northshore School District that includes Bothell and parts of Snohomish County.

Cascadia College in Bothell shares a campus with the University of Washington's Bothell campus on a hillside overlooking the river valley.

Evergreen Health has a primary care and urgent care clinic serving Woodinville real estate. The hospital is located in neighboring Kirkland along I-405.

Community Transit connects Woodinville real estate with neighboring communities and the transit center in downtown Bellevue. Commuters can connect from the transit center to busses crossing Lake Washington into downtown Seattle.

Community Transit also connects Woodinville with Everett to the north in Snohomish County. The bus line is part of the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority, also known as Sound Transit.

Woodinville is a community for growing families who want to experience Seattle area suburban living with good schools and public transportation.
